UNDERRATED MOVIE STAR :(, There's very few superlatives you can use for Craig Fairbrass portrayal of Pat Tate It's a huge shame this character can't have more outings with Fairbrass at the helm, ROTF3 is a fantastic addition to the franchise and as a huge fan of these movies I surely hope we get some more, I was very slightly disappointed that Ricci Harnett didn't make a surprise cameo as Carlton Leach but never the less this movie as just as good as I expected it to be. While not a perfect film by any means, I always thought it was very under-rated and gave something to the British Gangster Genre we hadn't seen in a while. The actress playing Kate just didn't work for me, apart from her poor acting she was way to young, at least cast someone abit older, and Jimmy, from part one, was just not believable, way too old looking and chubby. The storyline was thinner than my hair! Sad that there was no small cameo by Ricci Harnett, although plenty of other familiar actors appear which was great. Probably one my favorite British film was ROTFS 1 and Just couldn't wait for this one. General caaants I guess. They were found murdered in a field in a Range Rover on 6th December 1995. Above all, it is, quite enjoyable!! Zackary Adler's directing was OK, probably the best he could do with such a poor script. Rise of the Footsoldier begins by telling us through Pat Tate’s voice (played by Craig Fairbrass), informing us that “everyone knows how the story ends [but] no one knows how it began”. The plot was ridiculous, the comically fearless central character embodied every "gangster cliche" there is and the script was diabolical. Craig Fairbrass is always entertaining to watch as Pat Tate. I appreciate you can't made a prequel like this without the same actors but it's hard to relate to this as a prequel, everyone is that much more older and flabby. Never the less for those that like these kind of films it will be an enjoyable ride. Each episode would always end with a mention of Mickey Steele's supposed drug-deal, followed by all three getting blasted away in the Range Rover, with 'Heaven knoooooows what life may brii-iing...' played in the background. The kind of men who want another man castrated because he slept with his "bird" even though he himself has been banging everything he can get his hands on... You know, them "dirty little cows" not the breeding type. The British gangster film went into a different league with Sexy Beast and became stylised with this film and the films of Guy Ritchie. - seriously if Tom Hardy or Ray Winstone had played this role the critics would be screaming from the roof tops of how marvellous they were. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 September 2018. Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Story. It's a film saddled with a terrible script, only slightly better than the second film in the series thanks to some minor roles for familiar faces from film and television, and lots of crunchy violence which is at least more entertaining than the woodenhead dialogue. Can't wait to buy the DVD. If you are a PR person or a band wanting to get some words written about you, contact the individual writer directly. It is also very bleak in places. Was expecting more screen time for Billy Murray as Mickey Steele but never mind. The first two Rise of the Footsoldier films (made in 2007 and 2015 respectively) focused on Carlton Leach, an associate of Messrs. Tucker and Tate who went from football hooligan to nightclub drug dealer during the rave scene. Having said that, the soundtrack was brilliant and some of the scenes were hysterical! Shame we didn't get more from the other two characters from the 1st film but it is called the Pat story. It’s great to see a low budget English film produced with care. A different take concentrating on Pat Tate as opposed to Carlton Leach. I am a big fan of British gang and hooligan films. Privacy Policy, Definitely Oasis - Oasis tribute - Norwich. Graig Fairbrass absolutely nailed it with his portrayal of Pat Tate in this movie. Sorry, there was a problem saving your cookie preferences. Of all the films made, this is the slickest so far. Contains some cracking humour (The swimming pool scene, Cheese) but plenty of violence as expected. © 2018 GLASSWERK. We see what happened to Pat when he was absent from the part one storylines such as when he was in prison, and when he fled to Spain. I'm a fan of Craig Fairbrass and really liked him in London Heist, of which was way better written (by Fairbrass) than this hot mess. Although the comedy and violence was still entertaining, it's still only a generous 5/10 from me, more-so for decent cinematography and awesome location sets and visuals. For the British gangster film the moment that has defined a myth were the Rettendon murders of three Essex based gangsters who ruled the roost in their manor with their Ecstasy drug imports from the Netherlands and the nightclubs they ran in Southend. Nice cameos from Jamie Foreman and Shaun Ryder too. Meanwhile, the Gypsy King is played by reality TV celeb Paddy Doherty from ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’. External Reviews We re-join the same characters from the first film. Perhaps Pat's biggest problem was that he liked the product too much and would go into coke rages. There are no good or bad, just bad on both sides. It would also seem that such soaps as ‘Eastenders’ and ‘The Bill’ have become recruiting grounds for these types of films, including Fairbrass, as well as Stone (who plays Tucker) both of whom have appeared in ‘The Bill’ and ‘Eastenders’. Where has this guy been??? One of the defining moments that has been mythologised both in the Hollywood gangster film and the Prohibition era was the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. Rise of the Footsoldier 3 is also extremely violent but not without a black wit and some Essex wide-boy humour. A good instalment in the series. In a word who cares if the film is devoid of too many facts if its makes for great entertainment. Unfortunately, this film is nowhere near is dark or violent as the original, but still had some really good kills and fights. The extremely dark drama, and scenes of violence and torture more graphic than most horror films appealed to me a lot. The excellent Larry Lamb and Roland Manookian add further weight to the brilliant cast with their portrayals of Frank Harris and Graig Rolfe respectively. | In prison he asserts his dominance and even makes connections for during his long stretch before he can take over again in Southend with Tony Tucker. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2018. Terrific performance and work from everyone involved Let's hope they make more this story must have more to tell after the events of ROTF2 My fingers are crossed, Loved it.
