While I haven't ever seen the cut Miramax version myself and so can't comment on exactly how much it varies from the uncut version, I do know that it apparently features vastly inaccurate subtitles which rework several key scenes in the film (the quick flashback scene featuring Miss Orchid is apparently reworded to remove any mention of her being a prostitute that Doctor Yang buys out of service, and apparently the subtitles even add any entirely fictional backstory about Yang's father being murdered when in reality his father is never even. If the U.S. release of this film (which I have not seen) is a watered-down, edited version then the Hong Kong version is certainly worth the wait. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. ^I bought the trilogy and while I enjoyed the cut version of Iron Monkey quite a bit, I liked Once Upon a Time In China much more. If you've got a region-free player I'd highly recommend importing the UK R2 Iron Monkey Platinum Edition dvd from Hong Kong Legends as it's not only by far the best release of the film available on dvd but it also features the original and uncut version of the film (complete with not only a lovely DTS track but also a commentary from Bey Logan AND Donnie Yen ).
